molo has been conceived as a design studio and business model of particular design. We create products that we personally see a need for and then sell them to buy the time to work on continued development and further exploration. Our work requires focus while maintaining the ability and desire to see things with fresh eyes and mind.
We continue to design within the scope of our original interest – enhancing common daily ritual and defining space. Often this means taking the same pieces and improving, evolving and refining them. What may appear, on the surface, to be a collection of relatively static pieces, is actually part of an ongoing design process – each undergoing constant development and subtle transformation or evolution.
Hands-on making has always been fundamental to our design process and is an integral part of our exploration. Ideas pass from mind to hands and material, and back again; ingraining a tactile sense of materiality, construction, space and experience. We try to grasp the most fundamental properties of materials, issues, and concepts by getting as close to the source as possible. We also feel that this way of working often leads to happy accidents and discoveries that inspire design improvisation and original thinking.
In this same spirit we are designing and developing molo as a business. As we continue to follow the course we are on we make adjustments, improvements and discoveries in the day-to-day act of crafting a responsible company that operates with intent, follow-through and a mind for improvement.
We have been examining our customer relations processes, seeking areas where we can improve. With the same rigour and discipline, play and discovery that shape us as a design/production studio, we are re-imagining our approach to service. As we continue on this path of development we hope your interactions with molo will parallel the same experiential quality, sense of excitement, and designed simplicity that are inherent to our products.
