molo’s hobo lantern was launched last year during Milan design week. It has been continually developed over time to incorporate details such as an exact colour temperature for the LED light source.
hobo lanterns are hand sewn in small batches, in Vancouver, Canada. All molo products are produced in conditions that are directly controlled by us on site, or otherwise carefully monitored by us to ensure that working conditions are comfortable, safe, fair and ethical. We are continually working to improve processes to be as materially and energy efficient as possible.
Patterns for hobo are designed to create very little waste and any trimmed material is completely recycled. hobo lantern itself is designed so that it is made mostly of a single recyclable material. All other parts are easily separated from the product at the end of its useful life.
The light source for hobo lantern is energy efficient LED, with a long life of approximately 30, 000 hours. Replacement LEDs are available from molo.
hobo lantern is a portable luminary designed by molo and inspired by the urban nightlife of Zona Tortona during Milan design week. The lantern comes to life with an energy-efficient LED light source glowing through its delicate pattern of translucent fibres.
