Fushimi Inari Taisha (伏見稲荷大社) is the main shrine of Inari Ōkami (稲荷大神), located in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto, Japan. Inari is the Shinto kami (god or spirit) of fertility, industry, and worldly success.
Torii (鳥居), traditional gates that designate the entrance to a sacred space, line the foot paths of the shrine. Those who have been successful in business often donate a torii to Inari in gratitude, which is why they are so numerous at Inari shrines.
Ema (絵馬) are small wooden plaques on which wishes or prayers are written. The ema are then hung at the shrine where they are to be received by the kami of that shrine.
