cantilever table was designed with collaborative workspaces and events in mind. The flat-pack base uses flexible honeycomb geometry to fan open and connect to itself via magnetic end panels. The round bases are made from paper or textile, and paired with a tabletop made from PaperStone® or Carrara marble. The standing-height bases are well-suited for impromptu meetings, as a more elegant standing desk, cocktail hours, or events and exhibitions.
The brown and blue paper table bases are made from wood harvested from FSC® Certified (FSC® C158591) responsible sources and coated with a non-toxic fire retardant. The white and aluminum textile folding table bases are made of nonwoven polyethylene, which is water—and tear-resistant. Both materials are recyclable.
PaperStone® tops unify the system’s materiality by pairing the folding bases with a thin, lightweight, durable surface that has the warm feel of hardwood yet is made from compressed FSC®certified paper and resin. The tabletops are available in two styles—with or without a central hole.
The version with a hole comes with a multifunctional glass centrepiece that integrates with a range of accessories, acting as a pencil holder and spindle for a stack of paper sketching circles. The circular sheets of paper revolve around the pencil holder to share and develop thoughts around the table. When used for a dining table, the sketching circles can be removed, and the glass centrepiece can be used for chopsticks or as a flower vase.
molo also offers the folding base on its own as an opportunity to share the design process, encouraging clients to pair the bases with tabletops made from local materials. To discuss your idea or request a marble tabletop, please contact the studio.

folding table
Following an event or collaborative coworking session, the paper table collapses flat for easy storage and transport, returning flexible space to its surroundings.

eco-friendly tabletops
PaperStone® is an FSC® certified, durable, non-brittle panel pressed from resin and post-consumer recycled paper and cardboard.
Warm to the touch like wood, with a hardness similar to stone, PaperStone® is certified food safe by NSF International and Class A fire rated. molo makes these tabletops in brown, grey and black, and sizes to match each diameter of softseating and cantilever table. The material is highly water-resistant and finished by molo with a clear, flat/matte, 7° sheen, polyurethane top coat.

sketching paper
A twist on the office whiteboard, sketching circles add tactile engagement to the collaboration process. As sheets spin around the table, ideas develop and grow. sketching circles are 20 inches (50.8 centimeters) in diameter and include 400 sheets of paper per package.
Sketching circles can be purchased with the table above or separately.

wool felt tabletop
A contemporary interpretation of a tablecloth, molo has introduced a series of wool felt tops to pair with cantilever table. The soft, thin layer of felt matches the diameter of molo’s standard PaperStone® tops, and holds tight to the tabletop by threading around the pencil holder. It pairs especially well with sketching circles, as friends or collaborators gather to share ideas.

glass vase
By removing a wood insert, the two-part glass pencil holder is given extra depth to be used as a flower vase.

colour
The optics of light bouncing back and forth within the pleated surface intensifies the colour saturation and shadows of the actual paper colour. Context, lighting conditions, and arrangement all play a role in the lively shift of colour tone and depth, transforming a single colour into a range of hues.
Paper is available in brown, black, deep blue, or glacier blue. Textile cantilever table is available in aluminum, forest green, and translucent white. Each colour offers new possibilities for shaping and choreographing an atmosphere, or lively interaction with light.

GMUND Paper
The deep blue and glacier blue papers are produced in partnership with Gmund, a storied German manufacturer that has been producing paper for nearly 200 years. Working in close collaboration with Stephanie Forsythe and Todd MacAllen, Gmund has developed new papers that balance rigorous technical and sustainability requirements with the more poetic sensibilities of the collection.
