Designing an interior is, in many ways, an act of creating a world within a world. Every texture, colour and shape creates a dialogue in our spaces, shaping an emotional landscape. The quality of our illumination plays a large role in sculpting how our environments feel. In fact, we believe that light is one of the most essential materials when it comes to creating an atmosphere. Beyond their functional role, sculptural light fixtures have a wonderful ability to introduce atmosphere, depth, and a sense of presence that conventional lighting cannot achieve.
Our relationship with light is primal, affecting us on a biological and emotional level. Just as we respond to textures and colours, we seek out light that reminds our bodies of natural atmospheric conditions: the warmth of late-afternoon sun, the moody diffusion of overcast skies, or the shadows on our walls that shift across seasons.
molo’s modern cloud softlight transform rooms into tactile, immersive environments. Each cloud light diffuses both light and sound to create softer, ambient spaces. While they mirror natural sources of light, the sound-absorbing light fixtures also muffle noise, as if standing in a forest or under a canopy of trees. When using soft scale sculptural lights from the molo collection, environments are transformed into intimate enclosures that promote a greater sense of well-being.
cloud pendants
Used intentionally, light becomes a potent material that contributes to the overall design and atmosphere of a space. Humans and animals alike are deeply sensitive to changes in illumination, and the difference in light can affect our emotions, productivity, and quality of sleep.
The cloud softlight collection was designed with this understanding, offering illumination that mirrors natural gradients of the day. The body and mind does not respond well to harsh lighting, so we designed paperlike lanterns that gently diffuse light, creating an ambient atmosphere inspired by the natural sources of light that change throughout the seasons.

These cloud light pendants combine texture, shape and material to create the most ideal light solutions for offices, homes, public areas, and gathering spaces. Made from non-woven polyethylene textile, the pleated shades of cloud pendants absorb and scatter light in every direction, creating a halo without hot spots. Suspended or floor-supported, each piece is designed to offer a cohesive 360-degree viewing experience. By eliminating concentrated points of light, an inviting glow dissipates from any angle, reducing glare and allowing the eyes to adjust naturally.
Inspired by Alexander Calder’s kinetic sculptures, the cloud softlight mobile introduces a quiet sense of movement: each shade hangs from a single point, allowing it to respond to the currents of the room with a subtle, continuous drift. By behaving more organically, as if a living form, there is a softening quality added to any given space, creating a sense of comfort and weightlessness.
All molo lighting uses 90+ CRI LEDs, ensuring exceptional colour rendering. The Colour Rendering Index (CRI) measures how accurately a light source reveals the true colours of what it touches, with 100 being ideal daylight. Anything above 90 is considered excellent, bringing clarity and nuance to materials, skin tones, and the surrounding palette. In practice, this means that cloud softlight both illuminates a space and reveals it gently and honestly—in its full spectrum.
Choosing textile lamps for the home will vary slightly from what you might select for workspaces. Depending on desired needs, purpose, and goals, we offer three specific colour temperatures:
sound-absorbing light fixtures
Each textile lamp is designed with your senses in mind: touch, sight and sound. Playing an essential role in shaping both space and atmosphere, sound is as integral to the experience of a room as light, colour or texture. In addition to creating a soft and ambient atmosphere, molo’s cloud lights are sound-absorbing fixtures that diffuse noise, contributing to the atmosphere in multi-dimensional ways.
Many modern spaces are designed with hard materials such as glass, concrete and metal. When working in these environments, sound waves tend to bounce around a room, creating harsher acoustics and echo effects. When using soft, large scale sculptural lighting, especially when pendants are made from textile with a pleated structure, they act like acoustic panels by absorbing waves instead of reflecting them.
Every cloud light pendant is designed with an internal honeycomb core. Reducing reverberation in a room will soften the overall soundscape, enhancing the auditory experience. Especially when suspended and grouped together, soft scale sculptural lighting becomes an ideal solution for large offices, entrances, coworking spaces, and any open rooms that require a sound buffer.
Both pendant and mobile versions of cloud softlight have a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) rating of 0.45. By absorbing 45% of sound in an environment, the presence of one or many lamps helps with clarity of speech and provides a clearer, calmer space for focused work and conversation.
sculpting the imagination
Modern soft scale sculptural lighting has a way of shifting how we encounter a space. By doing more than simply brightening it, objects such as molo’s cloud pendant lights awaken a sense of play.
Mobiles and kinetic sculptures have long been used in nurseries, play areas, and quiet rooms because they engage our innate desire to track movement. Slow, subtle motion supports visual development in infants, offering a calming point of focus without overstimulation. For adults, the effect is similarly grounding: a drifting form can soften attention, ease anxiety, and create a more meditative atmosphere. In bedrooms, this translates to a restful, atmospheric presence. When used in workspaces, the gentle motion creates a counterbalance to screens and static surfaces, introducing a dynamic element that adds life into a room.
Alone or grouped together, molo cloud softlight pendant luminaires create an overhead canopy similar to a billowing skyscape. Reshaping the volume of a room, these cascading sculptural lights evoke emotion and drama by invigorating the imagination. Complementing the contours and light of the environment, there is a spatial poetry that emerges as these mobile lights converse with the architecture around them. By diffusing both light and sound, the effect is a serene space that can become a sanctuary for focus, creativity, and imaginative play.
