textile softwall | flexible freestanding partition
textile softwall | flexible freestanding partition
textile softwall is a modern room divider and flexible partition that may be arranged in countless curved or linear formations. When stored compressed, the folding wall shrinks to the thickness of a book. From its condensed state, it expands to an impressive 15 feet (4.5 meters) long or any length between.
The moveable wall can be spontaneously arranged as a room divider and acoustic partition to absorb sound and establish privacy or to create a striking backdrop for an event or performance. As a modular system belonging to the molo soft collection, each softwall + softblock has magnetic end panels that connect these flexible building blocks to create longer partitions and immersive, sculptural installations.
The walls are a new building material made from layers of textile structured with flexible honeycomb geometry. They relinquish notions of rigid space-making in favour of sustainable design that accommodates change over time and encourages responsible material use.
Recognized for innovation and its elegant sculptural simplicity, softwall is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York and won the prestigious Danish INDEX Award for Design to Improve Life.

portable folding wall
The honeycomb geometry and soft yet resiliant material allows softwall to flex and curve, creating straight angular walls or organic flowing spaces.
The walls easily flat-pack for portability and storage, expanding up to 15 feet (4.5 meters) or any length between.

walls with magnetic connectors
The final layer of softwall + softblock is a multifunctional magnetic panel that folds vertically on itself to simultaneously provide stability and sculptural harmony as the rhythm of vertical lines follows the rounded end uninterrupted.
The concealed magnets in the end panels also connect multiple walls and blocks to one another to create any length desired, or can be used to anchor the elements to any solid wall, cabinet or column that is ferrous steel or faced with the steel strip accessory available from molo.

colour
White textile, made to order for molo, is a translucent bright white that has an impressive colour consistency over time.
Black textile has an opaque sheen reminiscent of charred wood that highlights the subtle pattern of its fibres. For a nuanced tone-on-tone effect, pair black textile with the deep saturated flat black of paper softwall + softblock.
aluminum textile is micro-coated with the actual metal, creating a lively yet soft range of reflected light and shadow across the pleated surface of the folding partitions.
custom colour partitions are also available

material
The translucent white textile softwall + softblock have a visually delicate appearance reminiscent of Japanese washi paper, and the pattern of its fine fibres comes to life when illuminated. A non-woven textile made from polyethylene (HDPE), the material is anti-static (repels dust), tear-resistant and water-resistant. Made to order for molo, our textile is a bright white that has an impressive colour consistency over time. It is easy to maintain and can be wiped clean with a soft cloth, water and liquid dish soap.
textile softwall and its paper sibling are 100% recyclable; both have been welcomed into Google Portico’s catalogue of healthy building materials.

acoustic partition
Freestanding and completely flexible acoustic panels, the internal honeycomb structure and pleated surfaces of softwall + softblock break up reflected sound and provide acoustic absorption, enhancing speech clarity and creating acoustically calm rooms.

LED
Optional LED ribbons wind through the honeycomb cells to transform white textile softwall into an expressive, luminous space partition.

felt handle + anchor strip
The optional steel strip accessory is powder-coated flat white and anchors the magnetic end panel of softwall to any solid surface. When paired with a felt handle, it creates a sliding door evocative of a shōji screen.

hook for softwall
For storage or cleaning, a stainless steel hook can be used to hang compressed paper or textile softwalls from a solid wall or cabinet.
